Why OD!FS®?

Accelerated entry into the super-aging society

The formulation must be improved so that the elderly can take it comfortably.
With the acceleration of the aging society, the proportion of the elderly population is increasing rapidly. According to the NCHS Data Brief
from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 85%
of the elders take the medication in 30 days. Dysphagia (swallowing disorder) and Xerostomia (dry mouth) are common symptoms of physical aging,
and as of 2015, 69% of patients with these symptoms are 60 years or older.

Although they must take many medicines, aged patients suffer to
administer medications due to the above symptoms.
Thus, entry into a super-aging society desperately demands a new formulation
that improves the discomfort of drug administration for the elderly population.

Increased cruciality in medication compliance

Solutions for various age groups are needed for the convenience of
medication administration.
In the United States alone, about 700,000 children under the age of 6
have a very low rate of patient compliance, and children avoid
taking pills even at the age of 12.
It is difficult for children to swallow capsules or tablets until they acquire
the skills to swallow pills. Also, some drugs with a very bitter taste are very difficult for children to take, and even if they are made in syrup or powder,            it is not easy to take the prescribed amount.
Quick dissolution
OD!FS®, which has a fast rate of dissolving and is easy to take
by shielding the bitter taste, is a suitable formulation for patients
with dysphagia, xerostomia, cognitive disorder or any other
senile disorders. Even for patients who need to be administered
lying down or refuse to take treatment.
Taste-masking
OD!FS® has effectively masked the bitter taste without using sucrose,
it helps all children and adults, including diabetic patients
to easily administer medication and augment patient compliance.
Patch
It is unsuitable for patients with skin dryness or pruritus.
Tablet
It is the most common formulation, but it requires water for medication administration and is hard for patients who have swallowing difficulties.
ODF
There may be discomfort due to irritation and residue in the mouth because of the polymer forming the film-type strip formulation.
ODT
It takes at least 30 seconds to completely decompose in the mouth, and it is inconvenient to take it without water.
Powder
It tastes bitter, and the lump remains in the package. It is difficult to administer the exact amount, so the treatment effect may be different. In addition, the amount in each packaging may not be uniform.
Granule
Since it is not a fast-melting formulation, it must be taken with water. It often causes severe irritation in the mouth.
Syrup
It does not shield the bitter taste of the medicine completely, and it is difficult to administer the prescribed amount exactly.
Capsule
It is expected to have a faster effect than tablets, but it should also be taken with water.

OD!FS® has overcome the obstacles
of former formulations!

We have invented OD!FS® technology to solve problems
that have been encountered when administrating with former formulations.
OD!FS® microgranule melts quickly in the mouth and does not cause irritation
or residual sensation in the mouth. It is a new type of medication that is sweet with
bitter taste-masking technology. The formulation is differentiated from other formulations such as tablets that are difficult to swallow or flaky powder,
which greatly improves the convenience of oral medication administration.
Why OD!FS®? 01

Dysphagia

Dysphagia is the medical term for swallowing difficulties. It is a status where the esophagus
has become narrow or esophageal movement has slowed down so that food does not go down well.
Many dementia patients suffer from severe symptoms of dysphagia.
Solution
Tablet, Syrup, Powder

This is a characteristic that must be considered when prescribing to a patient, and it may be
difficult for patients to safely and smoothly administer pills that require water. OD!FS® is suitable                                  for patients with swallowing disorders because it hardly causes irritation when swallowed even                                when taken without water.
Why OD!FS®? 02

Xerostomia

Healthy adults usually secrete 1 to 1.5ℓ of saliva every day, and any less than this amount of saliva
makes their mouths dry. The amount of saliva is reduced due to anemia, diabetes, nutrient deficiency
and aging. Dry mouth can also occur due to various drug use and nervous system diseases.
Solution
ODF, ODT

Oral Dissolving Films (ODF) leave irritation and residue in the mouth due to the polymer that                                      forms the film and may adhere to the roof of the mouth, causing discomfort. Oral Dissolving                                  Tablets (ODT) also does not dissolve quickly with saliva alone, so it is common to take it with                                    water. But OD!FS® melts easily with a small amount of saliva.
Why OD!FS®? 03

Pruritus

Pruritus is the most common skin disease that causes the urge to scratch or rub the skin.
It is often divided into skin diseases, systemic diseases and psychiatric diseases.
Solution
Patch

Patch may not be a suitable alternative for oral medication since it can cause adverse reactions
such as irritation or discomfort if suffering from pruritus.
Why OD!FS®? 04

Nocturia

Nocturia is a condition in which you feel the urge to micturate while sleeping. It is related to age,
lifestyle, polyuria, bladder disorders, sleep disorders, psychological factors and other various factors.
Patients with night-time frequent urination often wake up while sleeping and cannot fall back to sleep
easily. Because they are disturbed at night, they are often sleepy and tired during the daytime, which
interferes with their daily lives.
Solution
ODT, ODF, Powder

Existing treatments usually require more than 200㎖ of water to administer, which can cause                                      stress for bed-wetting patients. To avoid stressful situations, many patients take the medicines                                  right after dinner, then the treatment effect will be reduced during sleep. But OD!FS® can be                                      taken without water on the bed, so the effect lasts longer even during sleep.
Why OD!FS®? 05

Side effects and treatment refusal

In the case of medications with side effects such as dizziness, insomnia and vomiting, doctors
recommend taking them right before sleeping because patients can feel less of the side effects.
In addition, a new formulation is needed to make medication administration easier for bedridden
patients.
Solution
Tablet, Syrup, Powder

OD!FS® can be taken without water right before bedtime making medications with severe side                              effects easier to administer. There is no hassle of having to move out of bed to get water after                                    lying down with OD!FS®. The convenience of medication administration has been enhanced by                            allowing patients to take medications while lying in bed. You can follow the doctor's prescription                            almost exactly, and the treatment effect can be maximized.
